2015 Infiniti QX 80 is a full-size luxury 5-door SUV built by Nissan’s Infinity division and is currently in third generation. 2015 year model is scheduled as a carryover since it was refreshed in 2013.
2015 Infiniti QX 80 Review
2015 Infiniti QX 80 comes in two configuration choices as a RWD or 4WD model. Powertrain options are also limited, in fact, there is only one engine under the hood of this sturdy SUV and that is 5.6L V8 that delivers 400 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque. Strong engine for a strong vehicle comes coupled with 7-speed automatic transmission. Towing rate stands at solid 8,500 pounds.
Exterior of QX 80 definitely has some retro feeling about it. Large stripe chrome grille is surrounded by headlights that seem to be mounted on fenders. Roof is flat and finishes with roofline spoiler, while rear end is sharply cut and has huge all-red tail-lights.
Interior is spacious and passenger-friendly even though newer versions of QX 80 aren’t as long as its predecessors’ were. There’s enough seating for eight people and all have leather upholstery with mahogany trimmed armrests in first two rows.
Cabin trim is also of highest-quality as only soft-touch materials were used, with heavy mahogany and leather presence. Dashboard is heavy with huge center board that has color touch-screen mounted on it. Infinity Connection infotainment system comes with apps that allow external devices and smartphone connection.
It also comes with hard drive navigation system with voice recognition, Birdview perspective control and enhanced 3-D building graphics. Rear seat entertainment system has dual 7-inch screens, while audio system is completed with 13 BOSE premium speakers. Safety consists of dual front, side, and curtain airbags, rearview camera with 180 degree around view monitor and cross-traffic alerts.
Optional package includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning and lane-departure prevention system that can be annoying more than often.
Fuel consumption is heavy which comes as no surprise for this heavy vehicle. Both RWD and 4WD ratings stand at 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.
Prices are pretty steep, but with such a luxurious, comfortable and functional interior, they seem justified. RWD model costs $62,700, while 4WD upgrade costs $3,100 which brings the price tag to $65,800. It can safely be expected that these prices won’t budge, at least not much.
2015 Infinity QX 80 will be the exact copy of its predecessor that might differ only in some optional interior and exterior color schemes. This luxurious sturdy SUV has one of the best cabins in luxury vehicle markets and why changing the winning combination?!
