The new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V appears to sit significantly lower due to its track-optimized suspension as well as featuring new side vents, skirts and wider fenders. The back of the car seems to remain largely the same but a new spoiler and bumper highlight the car as a V-series CTS.
Exterior of 2016 Cadillac CTS-V
The exterior styling of the new 2016 Cadillac CTS-V takes on, as expected, most of the features that were introduced for the 2014 car, whilst also boasting a number of unique editions. The front of the car features a host of changes with the grille appearing narrower and with a new mesh pattern and smaller Cadillac crest. The headlamps seem to be the only feature on the front of the car that is unchanged from the previous model.
The side intakes of the car has been reshaped also, with a new carbon-fiber splitter for the apron. The hood is also constructed using the same light material and has an air-extracting vent to help reduce lift and to pull hot air out of the engine.
Cadillac CTS-V Interior
If the exterior screams raw power and aggression, the interior is as luxurious and soft spoken as it gets. The cabin is littered with decorative stitching and delicate material for the panels, shift stick and steering wheel.
The seats are a whole other story with integrated heating and ventilation. They also come in leather and suede coating with your choice of three color combinations (Jet Black, Jet Black with Platinum accents, Saffron with Jet Black accents).
Now on to the flashy gadgets! There is a new bespoke version of the cluster display with V-series graphics and the latest CUE infotainment system that comes as standard. The Bose Surround Sound audio system also comes as standard, along with wireless phone charging, 4G LTE connectivity, built in Wi-Fi hotspot and Siri Eyes Free. On top of all that you will get the Performance Data Recorder that was first seen in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Engine of Cadillac CTS-V 2016
The place to begin has to simply be with the new 640 horsepower engine that provides 630 pound feet of torque. This is an extra 84bhp and 79 t than the previous model. The engine remains 6.2 liter but is significantly improves with new aluminum cylinder heads and titanium valves that make it both stronger and lighter. The old 1.9 lire supercharger has been replaced with a more efficient 1.7 liter that’s a higher rpm than the current model due to smaller rotors and new discharge port that generates less heat.
If all these numbers and technical terms leave you feeling dizzy, lets put things into perspective. The supercharged V-8 of this new model makes it almost as powerful as the Dodge Viper (!) and even more torque than all the Chrysler sports cars. The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V simply destroys both of its main rivals (the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG).
The new model has also been updated to GM’s 8L90 eight speed automatic transmission system for quicker shift response times. Cadillac also claims that the Performance Algorithm Shifting’ makes the new model as quick as any car with a dual-clutch transmission. Unfortunately, as of yet, there has been no mention of a manual drive release of the car.
The breaking power of the car uses the Brembo brake system and the light 19-inch wheels utilize Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires to keep all the power on the road. The tires were designed specifically for the CTS-V to give maximum grip and extend tire life.
